Volvo announced that their fully electric SUV EX30 has scored a maximum five-star rating in recent Euro NCAP safety tests.
Volvo EX30: Safety Features
With the help of advanced restraint technology and a structural design, it meets the high safety standards that often go beyond official testing requirements.
Along with our high safety standards, the EX30 also includes a range of standard active safety features to help prevent accidents and reduce risks. For example, an advanced driver alert system keeps an eye when the driver is not fully focused. The EX30 also includes an intersection auto brake that helps prevent or reduce accidents at intersections by automatically stopping the car if another car unexpectedly crosses the path.
The door opening alert feature of EX30 gives a warning with visual and audio signals if the door is about to be open and a cyclist is passing by. This helps reduce “dooring” incidents, which are a common cause of cycling accidents.
Making the safety and protection of people inside the car in a crash a priority, the EX30’s structural design strengthens the safety cage, A, B, and C pillars, and roof for added protection. As an electric car, the EX30 uses high-strength steel in the chassis and safety cage to protect the battery and absorb crash impact. It includes a far-side airbag in the driver’s seat to help reduce head and chest injuries in a side impact.
“While we always design our cars to be safe in the real world and not only to excel in safety ratings, this result underscores the strong safety credentials of the EX30,” said Åsa Haglund, the head of our Safety Centre. “With the EX30, we have taken our city safety to the next level, by creating a small SUV that looks after you as well as other traffic participants on busy city streets.”
