Volkswagen is gearing up to re-enter the hatchback segment, but in typical German style, by launching the iconic Golf GTI. To shatter all mindsets about hatchbacks in India, Volkswagen is going to add a sporty flair with a capital ‘S’. Bringing the Golf GTI via the CBU (Completely Built Up) route, the German company will offer the sporty hatchback in limited numbers. Volkswagen India has confirmed on its official social media platform that all the units are booked as a result the window of opportunity for owning a Golf GTI is currently shut.
Is another batch of Golf GTI available for booking?
Going by how Volkswagen introduced the T-Roc in two batches first in 2020 and later in 2021, there’s a good chance that history may repeat. The Golf GTI is the second Volkswagen vehicle to sport this iconic badge in India after the fully-imported three-door Polo GTI.
The Golf GTI will be powered by a 2-litre turbo petrol 261 bhp at 5250 – 6500 rpm and 370 Nm at 1600-4500 rpm, mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. According to Volkswagen, the Golf GTI can accelerate from 0 – 100 kmph in 5.9 seconds.

Volkswagen Golf GTI: Interiors and Features
The Golf GTI is equipped with tons of features like a 12.9-inch infotainment system, a 10.25-inch digital driver’s console, a seven-speaker music system and voice command function. Apart from this, the fully imported hatchback comes with a wireless phone charger and connected features. The cabin gets 30 colour ambient lighting, a three-spoke leather wrapped steering wheel with paddle shifts and a panoramic sunroof. It has a three-zone climate control system and rear air conditioning vents.

The Golf GTI boasts safety features like seven airbags, XDS electronic differential lock for superior grip, Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Assist, Front Assist with pedestrian and cyclist emergency braking, plus a rear-view camera and Park Distance Control for confident, secure driving at any speed.
