Vinfast is gearing up to officially set foot in the Indian market with the launch of two electric vehicle (EV) models — VF7 and VF6. Both electric SUVs made their first grand appearance at the Bharat Mobility global Expo earlier this year. Pre-bookings for both vehicles are currently underway since last month at a refundable token amount of Rs 21,000.
The Vietnamese EV maker has set up its local manufacturing plant at SIPCOT Industrial Park in Thoothukudi, Tamil Nadu. Recently, the VF7 was caught on cameras testing in Noida just a few before it actually hit the roads this festive season. Ahead of its launch, the patent image of the VF7 has surfaced on the internet.
Vinfast VF7: Exterior highlights
The prototype seen in the patent images is identical to the unit showcased earlier this year. The patent images show the front end of the crossover which flaunts the signature sleek LED stripe with the ‘V’ at the centre. The front bumper houses a unique trapezoidal front air dam flanked by the twin projector headlamps on each side. Other visual highlights visible in the patent include a low-slung stance and 19-inch aerodynamic alloy wheels.

Highlights at the rear include connected LED strip across the tailgate and roof-mounted spoiler. The trapezoidal-shape cut on the bottom part of the tailgate is carried over from the front fascia. According to the company website, the electric SUV will be available in a total of six colour options: Jet Black, Desat Silver, Crimson Red, Zenith Grey, and Urban Mint.
Vinfast VF7: Variants, Powertrain & Features
As per the Vinfast India website, the VF7 will be offered in two variants: Technology and Comfort+. The international-spec VF7 comes with a 75.3 kWh battery. However, the India-spec model will most likely come equipped with a 70.8 kWh battery which is expected to offer a range of around 450-500 km on a single charge. It’ll be interesting to see which drivetrain Vinfast decides to offer in the VF7.

In terms of features, the Vinfast VF7 will be equipped with dual-zone climate control, ventilated front seats, panoramic glass roof, full LED lighting, a coloured head-up display, connected car technology and Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS). The cabin interiors will wear a dual-tone theme with Vegan Leather seats.
