Traffic rules can get weird in India, and traffic challans get weirder. In a ‘believe it or not’ incident, a driver was fined for not wearing a helmet — while driving his car. The driver was issued a fine of Rs 1,000 for the same.
The bizarre incident took place in UP, while Tushar Saxena, received a message about the fine. He initially ignored it, but was soon followed up with another message and an email. The Rampur district resident contacted the police and he was given the news saying the challan was for driving a car without a helmet.
While this may sound like a mistake, the sensible option would be for the cop to correct it. Instead, it took an ever weirder turn — Saxena was asked to pay the fine and if not, will be produced in court for the same. Saxena has appealed to the Noida traffic police to revoke the fine.
This was not an isolated incident, as earlier, Bahadur Singh Parihar, a resident of Jhansi, was fined Rs 1,000 for not wearing a helmet while driving his Audi. And what did Parihar do? Well, he wore a helmet while driving his car.
