Toyota has unveiled the most powerful Land Cruiser globally till date. Not only has the body-on-frame SUV become more powerful, it has gone greener. The Land Cruiser LC300 is now available with a petrol hybrid powertrain that delivers a combined output of over 450 horses.
Toyota Land Cruiser hybrid: Powertrain
Based on the brand’s TNGA-F platform, the Land Cruiser now gets a hybrid technology with its petrol engine options. The 3.5-litre twin-turbocharged V6 petrol engine paired with a single motor in a “parallel hybrid arrangement”. This setup, which is also seen in the Lexus LX, kicks out a mammoth 451 bhp and 790 Nm of peak torque. This power mill is paired with a 10-speed automatic gearbox as standard.

In the Lexus, the petrol-hybrid powertrain draws 36kW from the electric motor, which is primarily used for short bursts of low-speed driving on battery power or to assist the engine by reducing its load, rather than driving the vehicle predominantly like a fully electric car. The addition of an electric motor reportedly improves fuel efficiency by about 5 to 10 percent.
Toyota Land Cruiser hybrid: Other updates
In addition to the new petrol-hybrid powertrain, the Land Cruiser 300 Hybrid features subtle cosmetic changes, including a unique front bumper design and a slightly larger air intake compared to the standard LC 300 SUV. It also sports exclusive HEV badges on the exterior. These updates are specific to the LC 300 Hybrid, while the LC 300 GR Sport, despite sharing the same petrol-hybrid powertrain, retains its existing exterior design without any changes.

Inside the cabin, the updated LC300 comes with a larger 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster that gets hybrid-specific readings and new graphics. Further, it now gets a 1,500-watt power outlet in the boot area. The rest of the interiors and features of the Land Cruiser remain unchanged.
Toyota Land Cruiser hybrid: Will it come to India?
The petrol-hybrid Toyota Land Cruiser 300 is bound to go on sale in Australia first followed by other international markets. Its launch in India seems unlikely as of now. In India, the Land Cruiser got updated for 2025 a few months ago. Toyota offers the LC300 in the standard and the off-road-focused GR Sport variants. The India-spec model is solely offered with a 3.3-litre V6 diesel engine that dishes out 304 bhp and 700Nm of peak torque. It is priced between between Rs 2.31 crore and Rs 2.41 crore.
