It’s an open secret that Maruti Suzuki’s answer to Hyundai Alcazar will soon be making its debut, the 7-seater Grand Vitara. Though it is fairly obvious predictably, Toyota will follow suit with a three-row Urban Cruiser Hyryder, which was recently spotted testing in Bengaluru for the first time. Like the Maruti Suzuki SUV, the three-row Toyota is expected to make its debut in the second half of the year.

Toyota Hyryder 7-seater: What we know so far?

The spy images of the heavily cladded 7-seater Hyryder from CarDekho revealed very slim LED tail lights along with a roof-mounted brake light, which is different from its 5-seater sibling. It is still not clear whether the new Hyryder will get an LED-connected rear lamp. To distinguish the 5-seater from the three-row SUV, Toyota is expected to rework the front design.

As it will offer a additional third row, the side profile is further extended and has a thicker D-pillar. Even though we cannot confirm whether Toyota has upsized the tyre, it does sport a set of new alloy wheels.

Currently, there are no images of the cabin, but it will be based on the current Hyryder’s design but with more premium features. The 5-seater Hyryder sports a 9-inch floating touchscreen, which could bigger infotainment system, multiple interior ambient lights, front ventilated seats, an 8-way electrically powered driver’s seat, a head-up display and a panoramic roof. The third roof could get air condition vents.

In terms of safety, Toyota could introduce Level 2 ADAS along with 6 airbags as standard, electronic parking brake, tyre pressure monitoring system, a 360-degree camera etc.

Toyota Hyryder 7-seater: Engine Specs

Neither Toyota nor Maruti Suzuki has confirmed the powertrain details though they are expected to retain the two engines from the current model. The more affordable variants could be powered by the 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine with mild hybrid tech which produces 101 bhp and 136 Nm of torque and is mated to either a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic torque converter transmission. The top models will be strong hybrids and will be powered by the 1.5-litre, 3-cylinder engine that churns out 91 bhp and 122 Nm while the motor offers 79 bhp and 141 Nm. This powertrain comes standard with an e-CVT automatic.
