Time and again, we’ve been reminded that safety is paramount, and recently, Indian automakers have begun offering more safety features as standard across their lineup. What was once exclusive to premium vehicles is now available in budget-friendly models. Here, we take a look at the most affordable cars that come with six airbags as a standard feature.

1. Hyundai Grand i10 Nios

Starting from Rs 5.92 lakh

The Grand i10 Nios is a steady performer for Hyundai India managed to clock 5,667 units in November 2024, a year-on-year hike of 20 per cent. The Korean hatchback is the most pocket-friendly vehicle that is equipped with six airbags starting from the entry-level trim. It also comes with ABS with EBD, three-point seat belts for all passengers and ISOFIX child seat anchorages, rear parking sensors with rear camera and a tyre pressure monitoring system. It is powered by a 1.2-litre engine with 82 bhp and 114 Nm, which is available in two transmission options — 5-speed manual and AMT. 

2. Nissan Magnite

Starting from Rs 6 lakh

The Nissan Magnite is the most affordable SUV in India to get six airbags as a standard feature. The Magnite received a facelift this year. It comes with three-point seat belts for all five seats, a tyre pressure monitoring system, ISOFIX child seats, traction control, hill assist, a 360-degree camera and a reverse parking camera. The Magnite comes in two engine options — 71 bhp 1-litre NA with 96 Nm and a 1-litre turbo with an output of 99 bhp and 160 Nm. Both engines get a 5-speed manual transmission while the NA is also available with an AMT while the turbo gets CVT. 

3. Hyundai Exter

Starting from Rs 6.13 lakh

The Exter is Hyundai’s most affordable SUV in the Indian market. It is one of the most equipped vehicles under Rs 10 lakh. Along with six airbags, it gets ABS with EBD, three-point seat belts, rear sensors, dual camera dashcam, rear parking camera and tyre pressure monitoring system. Like the Grand i10, the Exter is powered by the 82 bhp 1.2-litre with two options — a 5-speed manual and an AMT. 

4. Maruti Suzuki Swift

Starting price from Rs 6.49 lakh

The Swift is the most affordable Maruti Suzuki with six airbags. Maruti Suzuki launched the new-gen Swift this year, which is equipped with ABS with EBD, reverse camera and parking sensors, and electronic stability. It is powered by a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated engine with 80 bhp and 111.7 Nm of torque. It’s available in either a 5-speed manual or an AMT. 

5. Hyundai Aura 

Starting from Rs 6.49 lakh

The Aura is the most budget-friendly sedan in the market. Earlier, the entry-level sedan trim came with four airbags, which are now equipped with six. Apart from this, the Aura lineup gets hill start assist, tyre pressure monitoring system, ISOFIX mounts, and hill hold assist. It is powered by the same 1.2-litre petrol engine as the Exter and the i10 Grand Nios.
