We’ve all heard of the grand Indian wedding, and for such events, you need cars that can accommodate the large numbers. In India, where nuclear and joint families coexist, there’s often never enough space when heading out for a family gathering or road trip. As the year draws to a close and many look forward to a break from their routine, we take a look at the four most affordable seven-seater vehicles in India.
Renault Triber
The Triber is the most affordable 7-seater in the market. The vehicle is powered by a 999 cc naturally aspirated petrol engine with an output of 71 bhp at 6,250 rpm and 96 Nm at 3,500 rpm. The Renault vehicle is available in two transmission options — a 5-speed manual and a 5-speed AMT. With the third row folded, the Triber has a boot space of 625 litres and 84 litres with the seats up. In terms of equipment, it gets a 7-inch TFT instrument cluster, an 8-inch touchscreen, a wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a wireless phone charger and an armrest in the driver’s seat. The Triber gets 4 airbags, a traction control system, a tyre pressure monitoring system, a hill start assist and ABS with EBD and ESP.Â

Maruti Suzuki Ertiga
The most successful and in-demand MPV, the Ertiga, is available in both petrol and CNG trims. The 1.5-litre petrol makes 101.6 bhp at 6,000 rpm and 136.8 Nm at 4,400 rpm and is mated to either a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic torque converter with paddle shifters. The CNG version churns out 86 bhp at 5,500 rpm and 121.5 Nm at 4,200 rpm and is only available with a 5-speed manual transmission. It is equipped with 7-inch infotainment system, Arkamy’s sound system, a 6-speaker music system, a USB charger and wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The Ertiga comes with four airbags, hill hold assist, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors and a camera.

Mahindra Bolero Neo
The Bolero Neo is the only vehicle in the list that’s based on a ladder-frame chassis and the third row gets bench seats. It has a twin-pod analogue instrument cluster with a 3.5-inch LCD, a 7-inch infotainment with a speaker music system, dual airbags, Eco drive mode, cruise control and an armrest in front and second row. It has additional safety features like ABS with EBD, corner braking control and reverse parking assist. The Bolero Neo is powered by a 1,493-cc diesel engine with 72 bhp at 3,750 rpm and 260 Nm at 1,750 – 2,250 rpm. It is only available with a 5-speed manual gearbox. Â

Kia Carens
The Kia Carens is a popular MPV and is powered by a 1.5-litre petrol NA, 1.5-litre petrol turbo and 1.5-litre diesel powertrains. The NA produces 113 bhp and 144 Nm, the turbo makes 158 bhp and 253 Nm and 133 bhp with 250 Nm of torque. It is packed with features like twin 10.25-inch screens for the infotainment system and instrument cluster, a single-panel sunroof, ventilated front seats, one-touch second-row seats air condition vents for 2nd and 3rd row. It is available as a 6-and-7 seater. The Kia MPV comes with 6 airbags, a tyre pressure monitoring system, dual dashcam, front and rear parking sensors and all disc brakes.
