Hyundai launched the facelifted Alcazar a couple of days ago at a starting price of Rs 14.99 lakh (ex-showroom). This is the first major update to the mid-size SUV ever since it was first launched in June 2021. As mentioned in our previous reports, the Alcazar facelift gets a comprehensive makeover, both in terms of looks and functionality.
The Alcazar has gained quite a few features in its latest iteration. Here’s a look at four such features which are either first or best in the segment with the likes of Mahindra XUV700, Tata Safari, and MG Hector Plus.
1. Digital Key with NFC technology
While a digital key is not a new phenomenon, the one launched by Hyundai is certainly a first for the Indian passenger vehicle (PV) market. The digital key in the new Alcazar comes with the Near Field Communication (NFC) technology that allows the customer to drive and share the Digital Key with up to 3 different users or up to 7 linked devices at a time. This feature allows one to unlock the doors by a simple tap on the door handle via a smartphone or a smartwatch.

2. Thigh cushion extension
Another interesting addition is thigh cushion extension to the rear seats so that occupants don’t have a reason to complain about the lack of underthigh support. This feature was earlier seen in the recently launched Citroen Basalt but in this segment, Alcazar is the first model to get this feature.
3. Wireless charger for second-row seats
It is the first time that an India-made car gets a wireless phone charging setup in the rear seat. It also gets C-type charging ports for all three rows of seats.

4. 8-way powered front seats
Alcazar is also the first SUV in its segment to get 8-way powered driver and front passenger seats. Other SUVs like XUV700, Safari, and Hector Plus offer up to 6-way power adjustment for the driver’s seat only. Hyundai is also offering a memory function for the electrically adjustable front seats like some of its rivals.
