Mahindra has multiple models lined up for launch for 2024, the most exciting of them all is the 5-door version of Thar. Prototypes of this elongated Thar have been spotted testing on numerous occasions in various parts of the country for over the past couple of years. It is expected to hit markets in the next few months.
Recent spy images have revealed plenty of details regarding the equipment on offer with the upcoming 5-door Mahindra Thar. Ahead of its launch, let us look at the top 10 features expected to be offered by Mahindra in the 5-door Thar.
Sunroof
Mahindra will be offering an electric sunroof for the first time in a Thar with the upcoming 5-door variant. Although not a panoramic unit, the single-pane sunroof is likely to be offered only in the top-spec variants of the fixed-top Thar.

Rear disc brakes
With more weight in play this time, Mahindra will be offering disc brakes on the rear wheels in the upcoming 5-door Thar. The rear disc brakes are expected to be a standard offering in the 5-door Thar and will enhance the safety for the off-roading SUV.
Dual-zone climate control
With a significantly larger cabin, the 5-door Thar will benefit from dual-zone climate control which will help keep the cabin cool. This also means that the new 5-door Thar will also receive separate air con vents for passengers seated in the second row.
Larger infotainment screen
Previous spy shots have revealed a new and larger infotainment display for the 5-door Mahindra Thar. This unit is expected to be much more advanced than the current 7-inch display offered with the current 3-door Thar. Expect more connectivity features on offer along with the off-road details on offer.

Front parking sensors with reverse camera
The 5-door Thar will receive a reverse parking camera along with front parking sensors. Both these crucial safety features are missing on the 3-door Thar.
Six airbags
The current 3-door Mahindra Thar only gets two front airbags even in the top-spec variant. However, Mahindra will ensure between safety for the 5-door Thar with as many as 6 airbags, although it isn’t yet clear if this will be a standard feature across the range.
Fully-digital instrument panel
Another critical addition to the 5-door Thar will be a fully-digital instrument panel borrowed from the recently updated XUV400. The current 3-door Thar gets a simpler coloured MID sandwiched between two analogue dials. The new fully-digital driver’s display is expected to read out plenty of critical information, making it more advanced than the current unit.

Electric fuel lid opener
One of the surprising misses in the 3-door Thar is the remote fuel lid opener. Owners need to get down and manually open the fuel lid with the key. Mahindra will address this issue with an electric fuel lid opener for the 5-door Mahindra Thar, thus adding convenience to the package.
Rear centre armrest
Another convenience feature to be added to the 5-door Thar will be a rear-seat armrest. Not to forget, the cabin of the 5-door Thar will be wider than its 3-door sibling.

360-degree camera
Not only reversing camera, the upcoming 5-door Thar will also benefit from a 360-degree camera, thus enhancing the safety quotient. This feature will not only help the bigger Thar squeeze through tight parking spaces, but also prove helpful while undergoing challenging off-road trails.
