Xiaomi set foot into the world of automotive when the SU7 first broke covers in 2023. The all-electric sedan made its debut in the Chinese market in March last year and till date has shipped 186,112 units. Reports claim that demand for the Xiaomi SU7 is still exceeding the supply and as a result the waiting period has climbed up to 11 months.
The technology giant has added yet another feather to its cap. The SU7 has scored a perfect 5-star safety rating at the Chinese New Car Assessment Programme (CNCAP) last week. Moreover, the SU7 has secured the highest points in the crash test among cars evaluated by the 2024 safety standard.
Xiaomi SU7: C-NCAP crash test details
The C-NCAP crash and safety evaluation test is conducted by the China Automotive Technology and Research Center (CATARC). In these tests, a vehicle’s safety is assessed on a scale of 0 to 100%, with the results then converted into a star rating for easier interpretation. The C-NCAP evaluation covers vehicle occupants, vulnerable road users, and safety assistance features.

The Xiaomi SU7 Max was tested under C-NCAP. This 4WD sedan is equipped with the Hesai AT128 LiDAR sensor and the Xiaomi Pilot Max driver assistance system. It is priced at 299,900 yuan (approx. INR 36.31 lakh) in China. The tested vehicles were purchased anonymously from random dealerships using the agency’s funds.
The Xiaomi SU7 Max achieved a five-star rating in the C-NCAP, with an overall score of 93.5%—the highest among vehicles assessed under the 2024 safety standards. This score is 8.7% higher than the average result of other tested vehicles. The SU7 Max excelled in the Active Safety category, scoring 95.25%, with its Automated Emergency Braking (AEB) and lighting effectiveness nearly achieving a perfect score.
The Xiaomi SU7 Max achieved a 94.31% score in the occupant protection segment. Additionally, it excelled in the vulnerable road users (VRU) protection category, scoring 90.42%—13.14% above the average. This evaluation includes tests for pedestrian leg and head protection, as well as the effectiveness of the Automated Emergency Braking (AEB) system. The SU7 Max’s exceptional performance in VRU protection contributed to its highest overall safety score among all vehicles assessed under the 2024 C-NCAP standard.
