Renault is gearing up to electrify the affordable EV segment by introducing the much-awaited Kiwd EV. NDTV Auto posted the image of the Renault EV testing without any camouflage coverings. The natural rivals for the Kwid EV are the Tata Tiago EV and the MG Comet EV, but Renault could play the pricing game and make it the most affordable EV in India. Renault Kwid EV: What is it?
The Kwid EV is based on the Dacia Spring EV and is powered by a 26.8 kWh battery. In the global market, the EV comes in two trims — the Electric 45 and Electric 65. The former produces 44 bhp at 2,521 – 8,200 rpm and 125 Nm at 2,521 rpm. Dacia claims that the Electric 45 trim does 0 – 100 kmph in 19.1 seconds and has a top speed of 78 kmph.

The top model, the Electric 65, churns out 64 bhp at 4,057 – 6,000 rpm and 113 Nm at 500 – 4,057 rpm. According to Dacia, the Electric 65 version does 0 – 100 kmph in 13.7 seconds and has a top speed of 78 kmph. Renault states that both the EV trims offer a driving range of 225 km. In terms of charging, the Electric 45 juices up from 20% to 100% in less than 5 hours and the Electric 65 charges from 20% to 80% in 45 minutes.

Renault Kwid EV: Features
The Kwid EV offers a slew of features like a 10.1-inch infotainment system, a 7-inch all-digital driver’s console, a height-adjustable steering wheel and an e-Shift gear lever. It also comes with wireless smartphone mirroring for Android Auto or Apple CarPlay and Vehicle to Load function, which is standard for the Electric 65 model and two USB charging ports. The Kwid EV has a boot space of 308 litres and a 35-litre frunk, but available as an accessory.

The international model is packed with ADAS features including automatic emergency braking, lane keeping assist, driver fatigue detection system and traffic sign recognition with speed alert.
