Tata Harrier EV launched with over 500 km range: Here’s what it costs

Tata Motors is offering a lifetime warranty for the battery pack of Harrier EV. Bookings for the Harrier EV will commence July 2 onwards.

Tata Motors has finally launched the Harrier.ev after teasing the same for more than five years. First appearing as a concept at the Auto Expo back in 2020, the Harrier EV made its debut in its final production stage earlier this year at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo earlier this year. And now the electric SUV is available for sale at a starting price of Rs 21.49 lakh (ex-showroom).

Visually, the Tata Harrier EV is almost identical to its diesel-powered namesake but underneath it is built on the advanced Acti.ev Gen 2 electric vehicle architecture. The Harrier EV features a revamped, fully enclosed front fascia highlighted by a nose with four horizontal creases. The faux grille is headlined by a thin LED strip.

The front bumper has also been redesigned to incorporate vertical slats. In addition, it also gets a different alloy wheel design as compared to its combustion-powered sibling. Rest of the exterior including its profile and tail remain unchanged. Tata is offering the Harrier EV in four colour schemes namely Nainital Nocturne, Empowered Oxide, Pure Grey, and Pristine White along with a Stealth Edition that comes wrapped in matte black shade.

The Harrier EV’s cabin layout closely resembles that of its internal combustion engine (ICE) version. The Stealth Edition is anticipated to retain the same design, featuring an all-black finish, while the standard Harrier EV is likely to come with a dual-tone dashboard that hosts a 12.3-inch Harman infotainment system and a 10.25-inch fully digital instrument cluster.

The centre console comes with touch-sensitive buttons for the climate control, and toggle switches, a Terrain mode selector dial, and a four-spoke steering wheel featuring an illuminated Tata logo.

Tata Harrier EV: Features

It won’t be wrong to say that Harrier.ev is the most feature-packed model in Tata’s passenger vehicle lineup. The electric mid-size SUV boasts of convenience features like 10-speaker JBL sound system, front ventilated seats, electrically powered drivers and front passenger seats, cruise control, dual-zone climate control and panoramic sunroof. The Harrier EV will get additional goodies like vehicle2-vehicle (V2V) and vehicle2-load (V2L).

When it comes to safety, the Harrier EV comes with seven airbags, electronic parking brake with auto hold function, disc brakes on four wheels, electronic stability program, and tyre pressure monitoring system. Finally, the Harrier EV also comes equipped with Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance System that offers a unique self driving park assist feature.

Tata Harrier EV: Motor, Battery, & Range

Tata Harrier EV is available in both single- and dual-motor setup which draw power from 65 kWh and 75 kW battery packs, respectively. The single-motor variants kick out 156 bhp while the dual-motor version pumps out 309 bhp and 504 Nm of peak with a claimed range of 480 to 505 km on a single charge. The larger battery pack claims to offer a range between. As for performance, the Harrier EV can sprint from 0-100kmph in 6.3 seconds.

Tata is offering two AC charging options: 3.3kW and 7.2 kW. The batteries can support up to 120 kW DC fast charging which can add 250 km in the tank with 15 minutes of recharge. There are six terrain modes on offer including Normal, Grass/Snow, Mud/Gravel, Sand, Rock Crawl, and Custom. In addition, the Harrier EV comes with Boost Mode, Drift Mode, and Off-road Assist with cruise control (as low as 5 km/h).
