Skoda has announced that it will now offer 6 airbags as standard across the lineups of both Kushaq and Slavia. Both these models are locally manufactured by the Czech brand in India out of its facility in Aurangabad, Maharashtra. Interestingly, both these models have already been crash tested by Global NCAP and have earned a perfect 5-star safety rating.
In fact, both these cars, along with their German cousins– Taigun and Virtus— sit on top of the list of safest cars made in India. Following the latest update, six airbags will be available in Kushaq and Slavia from the base variant onwards.
The addition of six airbags as a standard fitment should further improve the crash test scores attained by both these models at Global NCAP last year/ Skoda constantly keeps updating both the models with the last update made in December 2023 when the carmaker introduced the segment-first electric seats late last year.
Skoda Kushaq, Slavia: Features & specs
Both Kushaq and Slavia share the same equipment and powertrain options. In terms of features, both cars have an 8-inch digital cam with powered front seats, an illuminated foot wall. Other notable features include a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 6-speaker sound system with a subwoofer, wireless phone charging, electronic stability control (ESC), a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), and a rear-view camera.
Powering Kushaq and Slavia are two turbo petrol engine options– a 1.0-litre 3-cylinder unit, and a 1.5-litre 4-cylinder unit. The former churns out 114 bhp and 175 Nm of peak torque whereas the latter pumps out 148 bhp and 250 Nm of peak torque. Transmission duties are carried out by a 6-speed manual gearbox as standard, with the option of a 6-speed manual in the 1.0-litre unit or a 7-speed DSG automatic gearbox for the 1.5-litre unit.
