In a decisive step towards enhanced occupant protection, Maruti Suzuki has announced the standardisation of six airbags as a key safety feature across all its Arena range of models. This includes popular models like WagonR, Alto K10, Celerio, and Eeco.
Speaking on the announcement, Partho Banerjee, Senior Executive Officer, Maruti Suzuki India Limited, said, “India’s rapidly expanding modern road infrastructure, high-speed expressways, and evolving mobility patterns imply that the need for robust safety measures has never been greater. We at Maruti Suzuki are committed to staying ahead of evolving customer expectations and making high-end safety accessible. With the decision of making 6 airbags standard in the Wagon R.”
The Maruti Suzuki Arena lineup now comes equipped with a comprehensive suite of active and passive safety features. A key highlight is the newly introduced 6-airbag system, which includes dual front, side, and curtain airbags, designed to deliver all-round protection. This system is further reinforced by 3-point seat belts for all occupants, along with seat belt reminders to ensure maximum safety.
Complementing this upgrade are advanced technologies such as Electronic Stability Program (ESP), Hill Hold Assist, and ABS with Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD). Models like the WagonR, Alto K10, Celerio, and Eeco now join the Swift, Dzire, and Brezza in offering 6 airbags as standard.
Intrestingly, the release shared by Maruti doesn’t mention S-Presso, as the crossover hatch continues to offer dual front airbags, as per the company website. These updated Maruti variants are available at Arena dealerships across India, reaffirming the brand’s commitment to making advanced safety features standard across its range.
