Nissan India has decided to finally cash in on its Renault partnership by launching a three-row MPV based on the platform of the Triber in FY2025-26. Positioned as India’s most affordable MPV, the sub-4 metre model will be manufactured at the Renault-Nissan Chennai plant. Targeting both domestic and export markets, Nissan aims for cumulative sales of 1 lakh units. This strategic rebadge move allows Nissan to capitalize on Triber’s proven platform while expanding its budget MPV portfolio in a competitive segment.Â
Nissan MPV: Design
Based on the teaser officially shared by Nissan, the MPV looks quite muscular with an all-black grille with knife blade-like shaped headlamps that are expected to LED and house DRLs. The grille also sports a sleek chrome strip above the Nissan badge. The front bumper looks quite chunky with C-shaped highlights. Nissan aims to combine SUV-like styling with the practicality and comfort of an MPV. The vehicle will be based on the CMF-A platform.
Nissan MPV: Features
Nissan is likely to design the cabin based on the Magnite, featuring a dual-tone interior. Expected features include an 8-inch infotainment system, a 7-inch digital instrument cluster, cruise control, six airbags, a 360-degree camera, a tyre pressure monitoring system, hill start assist, and electronic stability control.
The 7-seater will offer versatile seating configurations, allowing it to transform into a 2-seater, 4-seater, 5-seater, or a full 7-seater as needed.
Nissan MPV: Engine Specifications
The new Nissan MPV is expected to offer a sole powertrain option. Like the Triber, it will be powered by a 1-litre, 3-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine with an output of 71 bhp at 6250 rpm and 96 Nm at 3500 rpm. It will offer transmission options — 5-speed manual or 5-speed AMT.
