Renault Kiger facelift vs Nissan Magnite: Which affordable sub-4 metre SUV to pick?

Both Nissan Magnite and Renault Kiger made their debuts around the same time and models having received one mid-cycle update each.

Renault launched the facelifted Kiger a couple of days ago with several updates over the outgoing model. It directly competes with Nissan Magnite as both are the most affordable offerings in the sub-4 metre SUV segment. Interestingly, both happen to be platform siblings which are underpinned by the same architecture.

As expected, both are fairly similar but they are also very distinct in many different aspects. Interestingly, the Magnite also received an update fairly recently in December 2024. Let us find how the facelifted Kiger and Magnite are similar and dissimilar to each other.

The Magnite is slightly longer and wider than the Kiger. However, the Kiger is taller than the Magnite. Since both are based on the same platform, they share the exact same wheelbase. Even ground clearance is identical at 205 mm. However, Renault Kiger has the clear advantage of a much larger boot of 405 litres as compared to 336 litres boot space offered by Nissan Magnite.

In terms of features both crossovers come equipped with similar features such as an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, 6-speaker Arkamys-tuned sound system, Bi-projector auto LED headlamps, 360-degree camera, wireless charger, digital instrument cluster, auto climate control, etc.

Common safety features offered in both Kiger and Magnite include six airbags, ESP, a tyre pressure monitor, ISOFIX mounts, electronic stability control, hill start assist and more. However, Kiger comes with a couple of advantages in the form of ventilated front seats and rain-sensing wipers.

Besides underpinnings, the powertrain options of the Kiger facelft and Magnite are exactly the same with identical output figures and choices of transmission. Both models  get the option of a CNG powertrain as a retro-fitment for a premium of around Rs 80,000 only with the naturally aspirated petrol unit mated to a manual gearbox.

Renault Kiger facelift vs Nissan Magnite: Price

The starting price of Renault Kiger is slightly more expensive than the base variant of Magnite. Whereas the top-spec Magnite is dearer than the top-spec Kiger. However, both SUVs are closely matched in terms of pricing as well.
