In an announcement made on 7th December 2016, ExxonMobil, has revealed that it will partner Red Bull Racing’s Formula 1 team for their lubricants and motor oil in 2017 Formula 1 season. In the agreement, ExxonMobil will supply Red Bull Racing with Mobil1 lubricants and Synergy race fuels along with engineering support to develop the next-generation lubricants for better performance from the F1 cars’ engine and gearbox.
According to the partnership, driver overalls, helmets, F1 cars and track events will have Esso and Mobil1 logos along with display at the Red Bull Racing factory in Milton Keyes, Buckinghamshire, England. The lubricant company has been involved in Grand Prix racing for over 38 years with their debut in partnership with Williams in 1978 and recently with McLaren F1 team from 1995 to 2016.
“Red Bull Racing provides a dynamic platform to showcase our advanced, high-performance lubricant and fuels technologies. We are excited about building a relationship with Red Bull Racing’s excellent young drivers who are establishing reputations as competitive racers and who will help showcase our brands to generations of consumers,” said Matt Bergeron, vice president of marketing for ExxonMobil Fuels, Lubricants & Specialties Marketing Company
ExxonMobil has partnerships with Stewart-Haas Racing in NASCAR’s Sprint Cup Series, Porsche, Bentley and TOYOTA GAZOO Racing in the FIA World Endurance Championship, Corvette Racing and Porsche North America in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship and a number of teams in the Pirelli World Challenge. With the tie-up between Red Bull Racing and ExxonMobil, Lewis Hamilton should face stiff competition from the drivers of Red Bull Racing, Daniel Ricciardo and Max Verstappen. After Sebastian Vettel’s shift from Red Bull Racing to Ferrari, the former has been struggling for a top spot at Formula 1. With this partnership, the company might just walk away with first place in 2017.
