It is a well known fact that Nissan will bring out a new SUV based on the CMF-B platform which also underpins the highly anticipated third-gen Renault Duster. Around a month and a half back, the Japanese carmaker shared a teaser of the same, suggesting that despite similar DNA, the upcoming Nissan SUV will be very different from its French counterpart.
Contrary to recent online reports which suggest that Nissan has teased a seven-seat SUV based on the upcoming, it is in fact the same teaser shared previously highlighting the yet unnamed C-segment SUV and subcompact MPV based on the Renault Triber. The re-release of the same teaser suggests that a global unveil of the SUV is likely around the corner.
Nissan upcoming SUV: Expected Design
Nissan has announced that its upcoming 5-seater mid-size SUV will feature a completely distinct exterior design compared to the Duster. While both models share the co-developed CMF-B platform, the new SUV will align with Nissan’s latest design language, marking the only similarity between the two vehicles.

According to the company, the SUV will draw inspiration from the flagship Nissan Patrol, showcasing a bold design intended to command attention on the road. Nissan also emphasized that the vehicle will feature a prominent road presence, supported by high approach and departure angles.
Teaser images reveal a striking front fascia, including Nissan’s signature grille with dual chrome strips running horizontally, a centrally placed Nissan emblem, and inverted L-shaped LED daytime running lights connected by a chrome trim. The front bumper design further sets it apart from its French sibling.
Nissan upcoming SUV: Powertrain
Nissan is expected to equip its upcoming C-segment SUV with a 1.3-litre turbocharged petrol engine, likely producing 152 bhp and 250 Nm of peak torque. Transmission options may include a 6-speed manual gearbox or a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic.
This collaboration isn’t new for Nissan and Renault. The two brands, along with Mitsubishi, have long been part of a global alliance that has previously resulted in shared and re-engineered models such as the Renault Kiger and Nissan Magnite. In the past, Nissan offered the Terrano—essentially a rebadged Duster with Nissan-specific styling. However, the company has not yet confirmed whether it will revive an existing nameplate for its upcoming SUV.
