Nissan India has announced plans to introduce an affordable MPV and a mid-size SUV in FY 2025-26. The MPV is slated for launch this year, while the Hyundai Creta-rivalling SUV is expected to debut in 2026. According to Motor1.com, the new Nissan SUV will first launch in Brazil and may be named Kait. It remains unclear whether the Kait name will be exclusive to Brazil. Nissan has yet to tease the SUV, which will share its platform with the next-generation Renault Duster.
Nissan Kait: What to expect?
Based on media reports, the upcoming Kait will not be slotted below the Kicks Play in Brazil and speaking to Nissan, they confirmed that the new SUV will be exported to over 20 countries, including Mexico and Argentina. The company further said that the new SUV will be launched in Asia. The Kait has been doing test runs in Brazil, and spy images have surfaced of the camouflaged vehicle. Moto1.com has revealed that the Kait is expected to be launched next year, as the next-generation Kicks will make its debut in 2025.

Nissan plans for India
The new Nissan SUV will be based on the heavily localised CMF-B platform for India, which will be shared by the Duster and Renault’s seven-seater SUV, the Boreal. It is confirmed that neither Nissan nor Renault will be offering a diesel variant. Hence, the new SUV is expected to be powered by the 1.3-litre turbo petrol engine mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. Based on the specs available for the international market, the engine produces 152 bhp and 250 Nm of torque. The company has not yet confirmed whether there will be a manual option. As a matter of fact, Nissan also has an option to introduce a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated engine for the entry-level model.
