Maruti Suzuki launched the 2024 Swift hatchback in India, which gets several changes, including a revised design, a new suspension setup, and a new three-cylinder engine in place of the older four-pot K-Series motor. For Maruti Suzuki, the hatchback segment is important as it is the stepping stone for most new car buyers in India.
The Maruti Suzuki Swift has been one of the best-selling cars for the carmaker ever since its launch in 2005, owing to its sporty nature. With the recent update, Maruti Suzuki is looking at upping the quotient, while offering more features and comfort. However, this is not easy as competition lurks around the corner. Here’s how the new Swift compares against its rivals in the market in terms of pricing.Â
New Maruti Suzuki Swift vs competition – Pricing
The new Maruti Suzuki Swift primarily competes with the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios and the Tata Tiago in the Indian market. Although the Wagon R and the Ignis are competition in the price range, they are from the same brand and let’s leave them out for this competition. Let’s see how the new Swift compares against the Hyundai i10 and the Tata Tiago.
The 2024 Maruti Suzuki Swift carries a price tag of Rs 6.49 lakh onwards, ex-showroom. The Swift is available with a manual and AMT gearbox, which further gives way to a total of 11 variants. The detailed pricing is as follows.Â
New Swift Prices (Ex-showroom) | |||
Variant | Price | ||
LXI | Rs 6,49,000 | ||

The Tata Tiago, on the other hand, is available in a total of nine variants, which again is based on gearbox options — manual and AMT. Prices for the Tata Tiago start from Rs 5.64 lakh, ex-showroom. The top-spec variant of the Tiago costs Rs 7.29 lakh, ex-showroom.
Moving on to the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios, the hatchback is available in both petrol and CNG CNG variants, while gearbox options include manual and AMT units. The Hyundai Grand i10 is available in a total of 5 variants, while prices range between Rs 5.92 lakh and Rs 8.2 lakh, ex-showroom.
When looking at the three cars, the Maruti Suzuki Swift is the most expensive in its base trim, while moving up the ladder, the Swift is again the most expensive compared to the i10 and Tiago.
New Maruti Suzuki Swift vs competition – Engine specifications
All three vehicles, the new Swift, Tata Tiago, and the Hyundai i10, are powered by similar engine sizes, a 1.2-litre petrol mill. They have different cylinder configurations and power outputs. Also, what is to note here is that the Tiago is the only vehicle available with an all-electric power train.Â
Specifications | Swift | Tiago | i10 |
Displacement | 1.2-litre | 1.2-litre | 1.2-litre |
No of Cylinders | 3 | 3 | 4 |
Power | 80 bhp | 85 bhp | 82 bhp |

When looking at the engine specifications, the Swift makes the least power and torque on paper, while the Tiago makes the most power. However, what is more important is how the power is delivered. We will be driving the new Swift soon, so stay tuned for our first drive review.
