Maruti Suzuki has followed a policy that whenever a new-generation Dzire was launched, it would only be exclusively sold to private owners. As for fleet or taxi owners, they could only buy the previous generation model which would be converted as Tour S. Unfortunately, we have some bad news for proud 2025 Dzire owners. A video on YouTube showcased that the new sedan was sporting yellow number plates and was being used as a taxi. Is this against the company policy? We tell you why we think so.
Caught on camera: 2025 Maruti Suzuki Dzire serving as a taxi
In November 2024, Maruti Suzuki launched the all-new Dzire confirming that this model would be sold to private buyers only while the previous generation sedan would be sold to taxi operators. However, it’s been just over three months and a YouTube video by Raftaar 7811 showed that the new-generation Dzire was plying on the roads of Rajasthan as a taxi. The yellow number plates confirm that the sedan is being used as a commercial vehicle.Â
Maruti Suzuki Dzire: Specifications
The Dzire is the best-selling sedan in the country and is available in both petrol and CNG. It is also Maruti Suzuki’s first vehicle to achieve a five-star safety rating by Global NCAP. The sedan is powered by a 1.2-litre 3-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine with an output of 80 bhp at 5,700rpm and 111.7 Nm at 4,300rpm. It is mated to either a 5-speed manual or an AMT gearbox. The CNG, on the other hand, comes with the same petrol engine but has an output of 69 bhp and 101.8 Nm of torque which is mated to a 5-speed manual transmission.
