And the day is finally here as Kia unveils the new Carens Clavis. The prices were set to be announced next month, but thanks to a leaked price list, we have the prices of the Carens Clavis as well. That said, the Carens Clavis is a cheaper alternative to the Toyota Innova Crysta, the definitive MPV. So how do the two compare in terms of specifications? Let’s dive right into it.

New Kia Carens Clavis vs Toyota Innova Crysta — A quick overview

The new Kia Carens Clavis resembles the familiar silhouette of the Carens, but the design details set them apart. The Clavis sports Kia’s new pilot headlight setup, connected tail lamps, 17-inch wheels, and comes in a six or seven-seater format. Inside, the Clavis gets twin 26.62-inch panoramic displays, a dual-pane panoramic sunroof, dual-zone climate control, dual-camera dash cam, front ventilated seats, in-built navigation, Bose audio system, and more. The Carens Clavis is safe to say that it’s well equipped.

The Toyota Innova Crysta needs no introduction at all, as it is the go-to MPV. It offers a good balance between performance and comfort, as it features an 8-inch infotainment system with smartphone connectivity, leather upholstery, power-adjustable seats, cruise control, and more. The Innova Crysta is equipped with all the needed stuff but in the right quantity.

In terms of safety, both MPVs get multiple airbags, ESP, ABS with EBD, reverse camera and sensors, 369-degree cameras, and a host more, including ISOFIX child seat anchors. The Clavis also gets an ADAS Level 2 suite, while the Crysta misses out on that.

New Kia Carens Clavis vs Toyota Innova Crysta — Engine specifications

The Carens Clavis gets three engine choices — a naturally aspirated 1.5-litre petrol, a turbocharged 1.5-litre petrol engine, and a 1.5-litre diesel engine. Gearbox choices include a manual, iMT, DCT, and an automatic. The Innova Crysta keeps it simple — it gets a 2.4-litre diesel engine mated to a five-speed manual gearbox.
