The new-gen Skoda Kodiaq has been in development for a long time now. The premium SUV made its global debut in October last year and has been spied on Indian roads on multiple occasions. It has now come to light that the next-gen Kodiaq will break cover in India at the Bharat Mobility Expo in January 2025.

It was recently reported that the new Kodiaq will go on sale in May 2025. This could mean that the Czech carmaker could reveal all details about the vehicle at the Bharat Mobility Expo whereas prices could be announced later in the month of May. Production for the new Kodiaq will commence around March 2025 at the company’s facility in Aurangabad, Maharashtra.

New-gen Skoda Kodiaq: Sharper Look

The upcoming iteration of the Skoda Kodiaq will boast a bolder, more angular design, a significant departure from its predecessor. The front end retains the signature Skoda butterfly grille with vertical slats, but now incorporates a striking split headlight setup with wider main units and distinctive LED DRLs. A sleeker air dam and a front-mounted radar sensor hint at the inclusion of advanced driver assistance systems.

While the side profile maintains the SUV’s overall shape, new alloy wheel designs and a longer rear overhang suggest an increase in interior space. The rear end undergoes a complete transformation, featuring eye-catching C-shaped LED taillights, the Skoda lettering prominently displayed, a roof-mounted spoiler, and optional D-pillar trim for added flair.

Built upon the versatile VW Group’s MQB platform, the new Kodiaq will continue to be offered as a 7-seater SUV in the Indian market. In terms of dimensions, the new Kodiaq will measure 4,758mm in length, a notable 59mm longer than its predecessor. However, the SUV’s height, width, and wheelbase remain unchanged.

New-gen Skoda Kodiaq: Premium interiors & features

The India-spec Skoda Kodiaq’s interior is yet to be fully revealed, but it’s expected to mirror the European model’s design, adapted for right-hand drive. Key features anticipated include a 13-inch freestanding touchscreen infotainment system, a fully digital instrument cluster, LED matrix headlamps, dual-zone climate control, ventilated and heated front seats, a panoramic sunroof, multi-color ambient lighting, a branded sound system, and a powered tailgate.

Safety is paramount, with up to nine airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control, a 360-degree camera, front and rear parking sensors, and advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) included. Notably, the new Kodiaq has recently achieved a 5-star safety rating in Euro NCAP crash tests, further emphasizing its commitment to occupant protection.

New-gen Skoda Kodiaq: Same performance

Skoda Kodiaq offers a range of powertrain options globally. However, in the Indian market, it is highly likely to be available exclusively with a 2.0-liter TSI turbocharged petrol engine. This powerful engine delivers an impressive 187 bhp and 320 Nm of peak torque. Power is transmitted to the wheels via a standard 7-speed DSG automatic gearbox. The Czech carmaker will also provide the option of all-wheel drive.
