New-gen Citroen C5 Aircross: Design & Dimensions

The second-gen Citroen C5 Aircross gets a heavily revamped design based on the concept car which broke cover at the 2024 Munich Motor Show. The production model carries forward the distinctive styling cues of the concept, including prominent LED headlamps. However, it replaces the concept’s unconventional elements with more practical features such as traditional door handles and thicker pillars.

Along the sides, it sports black cladding around the squared wheel arches and even more substantial cladding on the doors. The SUV sits on newly designed 20-inch alloy wheels. At the rear, it features redesigned split LED tail lamps, a sculpted tailgate, ‘AIRCROSS’ lettering at the center, and a sleek black roof spoiler.

Dimensionally, the new C5 Aircross is now 150mm longer with an overall length 4,652 mm while wheelbase has increased by 60mm to 2,784 mm. The SUV is 166mm tall and 1,902 mm wide. The boot has a capacity of 651 litres.

Inside the cabin too, the layout has been changed completely but the focus remains on its class-leading comfort which is said to be inspired by the “C-Zen Lounge” cabin. The highlight is the ‘Sofa Design’ Citroen Advanced Comfort seats complemented by Progressive Hydraulic Cushions suspension that claims to flatten every undulation. Like the current iteration, the new C5 Aircross comes with three individual sliding and reclining seats at the rear.

New-gen Citroen C5 Aircross: Powertrain

As mentioned above, the new Citroen C5 Aircross will be available in both ICE as well as battery-powered iterations. The former is available with two hybrid powertrain options — one mild-hybrid and the other a plug-in hybrid. The mild hybrid variant pairs a 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol engine with a compact electric motor integrated into a dual-clutch transmission, powered by a 0.9kWh battery.

The plug-in hybrid, on the other hand, features a more powerful 1.6-litre four-cylinder petrol engine combined with a 123 hp electric motor, delivering a total output of 193 hp. It is equipped with a 21kWh battery, offering an electric-only driving range of up to 85 km.
