SsangYong first revealed the official sketches of upcoming 2018 Rexton earlier this month and now the carmaker has unveiled the new SUV, which is set to debut at the 2017 Seoul Motor Show. The new SsangYong Rexton, codenamed Y400, is based on the LIV-2 Concept showcased at the 2017 Paris Motor show. The India bound Rexton will be lighter and will have more cabin space compared to the predecessor model.
The recent images of the 2018 SsangYong Rexton reveal its similarities to the LIV-2 Concept on the inside and out, such as the front fascia, a new bumper and front grille. The Rexton will be a 7-seater SUV and will get headlamps with LED DRLs (Daytime Running Lamps) and a new set of alloy wheels. The cabin will feature upmarket and premium material. The car manufacturer will also offer the car with a 9.2-inch infotainment screen with Wi-Fi, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto as well as USB, AUX and Bluetooth connectivity.
Under the bonnet, the new Rexton gets two engine options – a 2.2 litre turbocharged diesel and a 2.0 litre petrol engine that will be mated to a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed automatic gearbox. The company has not disclosed the power figures yet, but we expect the diesel engine to produce 184 hp of power and 420 Nm of torque, while petrol unit is likely to develop around 225 hp of power.

SsangYong will first launch the 2018 Rexton in Korea and it will later go on sale in other parts of the world, along with it launch in India later this year. The company is expected to price the new 2018 Rexton at around Rs 25 lakh (ex-showroom). It is likely compete with the likes of the Toyota Fortuner and the Ford Endeavour.
