JSW MG Motor launched the Windsor EV in October last year and has turned out to be a grand success for the Chinese-owned Indo-British brand. A rebadged Wuling Cloud EV, the Windsor became the best-selling EV in India. Within six months of its launch, MG has already dispatched more than 20,000 units of electric crossover across the country.
It was recently reported that the MG Motor is planning to launch the first update of the Windsor EV. The updated iteration of the electric crossover is expected to get some new features more importantly a larger battery pack. Now, the updated Windsor EV has been caught testing.
The latest spy images have reportedly been clicked somewhere around Gurugram in Haryana. The test mule is fully wrapped underneath a camouflage but it is clearly visible that there will be no cosmetic changes on offer as far as styling is concerned. The only change we can expect with this version of the Windsor EV will reportedly be a “Pro” branding to distinguish it from the existing model.

MG Windsor Pro: Expected Powertrain
As previously reported, the MG Windsor EV is set to receive an upgraded 50.6 kWh battery pack, which is currently available in the Wuling Cloud EV sold in Indonesia. This larger battery claims a range of 460 km on the CLTC test cycle. At present, the Windsor EV is equipped with a 38 kWh battery that delivers an ARAI-certified range of 332 km on a single charge. The new variant is expected to arrive at MG dealerships across India as early as next month.
MG is likely to retain the existing front-wheel-drive PMS electric motor, which produces 134 bhp and 200 Nm of torque, enabling a top speed of 170 kmph. The Windsor can sprint from 0 to 100 kmph in just 8.6 seconds. In the latest spy shots, we see the Windsor EV prototype being tested on a sandy surface which suggests that the upcoming iteration of Windsor EV could benefit from terrain modes.

Notably, the Windsor EV was the first electric vehicle in India to be offered with a Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) model. Under this scheme, the base price starts at Rs 9.99 lakh, with an additional battery rental cost of Rs 3.9 per km. Customers opting to buy the vehicle with the battery included can expect prices ranging between Rs 14 lakh and Rs 16 lakh (ex-showroom).
MG Windsor Pro: Expected Features
In addition to the new battery, the updated Windsor EV will also gain Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) features. These are expected to include adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, forward collision warning, and more. Current safety features include six airbags, electronic stability control, a 360° camera, hill hold assist, parking sensors, and a tyre pressure monitoring system.

On the features front, the Windsor EV is equipped with a 15.6-inch touchscreen infotainment system, an 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster, a 6-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, a 4-way power-adjustable front passenger seat, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and a rear seat with a sofa-style recline function that can tilt up to 135 degrees.
