MG Motor India has finally launched the Windsor EV in India making it the third fully-electric offering from the brand in the country. The Windsor EV is priced at a starting introductory price of Rs 9.99 lakh (ex-showroom). However, there is a big catch. This is the listed price of the car, as the battery will be leased out to the buyer by the company as a service at a rate of Rs 3.5 per kilometre.
Bookings for MG Windsor EV will start from October 3 onwards while test drives will kick start on October 13. The company is yet to reveal the entire price list of the fully-electric compact utility vehicle (CUV) and dates for the commence of deliveries. The Windsor is available in three trims: Excite, Exclusive, and Essence.
MG Windsor EV: Exterior Design
As mentioned previously, MG Windsor EV is a rebadged Wuling Cloud EV sold in China. Inspired by the Cloud EV’s design language, the Windsor EV features a sleek split headlight setup with connected LED DRLs. The side profile exudes a sense of minimalism, with flush door handles and 18-inch alloy wheels that create a clean and streamlined look.

The charging flap is discreetly positioned on the side, below the A-pillar, for easy access. At the rear, a roof spoiler and connected LED tail lamps create a sporty and futuristic appearance. To further enhance its visual appeal, the CUV boasts blacked-out pillars, expansive quarter glass, and a panoramic glass roof. There are four colour options on offer namely Starburst Black, Pearl White, Clay Beige, and Turquoise Green.
MG Windsor EV: Interiors & Features
At the forefront is a massive 15.6-inch infotainment system, the largest in its class, offering seamless connectivity through Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and integrated apps like JioSaavn. The 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster further enhances the driving experience. Passengers will appreciate the luxurious backseat, which reclines up to 135 degrees, while the electrically adjustable front seats, and rear AC vents enhance convenience.

Notably, the MG Windsor EV is the first mass-market vehicle to feature a stunning glass roof. Additional premium touches include a 6-way electrically adjustable driver’s seat, leather-wrapped steering wheel, and 256 multi-color cabin ambient lights. Other novelties include wireless connectivity for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, 9-speaker Infinity sound system, wireless phone charging, powered tailgate, etc.
MG Windsor EV: Powertrain specs
Powering the MG Windsor EV is a 38kWh LFP battery with prismatic cells sending energy to a single electric motor mounted on the front axle. The motor returns an output of 134 bhp and 200 Nm torque. Estimated range on a single charge is 331 km (ARAI). There are four drive modes on offer: Eco, Eco+, Normal and Sport.
MG Motor is offering multiple charging options with the Windsor EV. This includes a 3.3 kW CCS2 connection that takes 13.8 hours for the battery to rejuvenate. Other charging options available are 7.4 kW and 50 kW, which take 6.5 hours and 55 minutes, respectively. The battery on offer in Windsor EV can be charged up to 45 kW DC fast charger. Moreover, MG is offering the battery as a service (BaaS) to the customer at a rate of Rs 3.5 per km.
