MG Motor has filed patents for a new entry-level electric car in India. As we already know, MG is looking at expanding its battery-powered lineup in India at the entry-level space which started with the launch of Comet EV last year. Recently it was reported that MG has filed a patent for Cloud EV in the country.
SAIC, parent company of MG Motor, has filed another trademark for another small electric car named Bingo. Sold by the SAIC in China under the Wuling brand, Bingo is an electric hatchback roughly the same size as Maruti Baleno. Besides China, this electric hatch is also sold in markets like Indonesia and Philippines.
MG Bingo: Exterior & interior highlights
Unlike Comet EV, the Bingo looks more like a traditional four-door hatch with a cab-forward stance. The sealed-off front face houses a pair of angular LED headlights with integrated DRLs. The patent image reveals a Wuling badge embossed at the centre which is likely to be replaced by the MG lettering instead, if and when it is launched in the country.

Inside the cabin, the Bingo shares a few elements with the MG Comet EV. For example, These include the dual-screen setup for infotainment and instrumentation duties, the steering wheel and other control buttons and stalks. It also benefits from subtle chrome touches and soft panels on the inside, giving the car a premium appeal.
MG Bingo: Features & Specs
Bingo is based on the GSEV (Global Small Electric Vehicle) born-EV platform which also underpins the likes of Comet EV and the upcoming Cloud EV. In terms of size, it is only slightly larger than Maruti Swift and will compete against the likes of Citroen eC3. Measuring 3,950mm in length, the Bingo offers more cabin space than Tata Tiago EV and Maruti Swift. It further measures 1,708mm in width and 1580mm in height.

Wuling offers the Bingo in China in seven different trims namely— Easy, Cosy, Swift, Joy, Ling OS Intelligent, and Ling OS Supreme. MG offers the Bingo range in three battery pack options— 17.3kWh, 31.9kWh, and 37.9 kWh— which offer a peak range of 203 km, 333 km, and 410 km, respectively.
The entry-level variants feature a 30kW electric motor whereas the higher-spec variants get a more powerful 50kW motor. All variants apart from the top-spec Bingo, can clock a top-speed of 100kmph, whereas the top-spec Ling OS Supreme trim claims a top speed of 130 kmph. From the Swift variant onwards, Bingo can be charged via a DC fast charging network.
