MG Motor is making significant strides in the Indian passenger vehicle industry. Earlier this year, the Chinese-owned British carmaker joined hands with Jindal Steel Works (JSW) for easier business in the country. The first launch under this joint venture was MG Windsor EV which created ripples in the Indian EV market.
The company has now announced its next big launch for India in the form of MG Cyberster. An all-electric convertible sportscar, the Cyberster was displayed by MG at Auto Expo 2023 and Bharat Mobility Expo 2024. However, MG hadn’t divulged any specific details regarding the car’s launch in India at that time.
MG Motor has now announced that it will be launching the Cyberster in India in January 2025. The all-electric roadster will be brought to the country as a fully-imported CBU model. MG has confirmed this development by releasing a teaser video of the Cyberster on its social media handles. As expected, the roadster will be the brand’s most expensive offering for India.

Upon launch in India, the Cyberster will be retailed through MG Select dealerships which will house selected premium models from MG Motor’s global lineup. From our understanding, future CBU models from MG Motor in India will be retailed through these new MG Select showrooms. In its initial phase, the company is set to establish 12 exclusive luxury showrooms across 12 Indian cities, with four premium car launches slated by 2026.
MG Cyberster expected design
MG first displayed the Cyberster as a pre-production concept at the Shanghai Motor Show in April 2021 before making its debut in the production form at last year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed. Claimed to be the world’s fastest MG roadster, the Cyberster draws inspiration from the two-door MG B Roadster of the 1960s.
One of the most prominent visual highlights of the Cyberster are the rear arrow-pattern taillights. Up front, it gets sleek LED headlights with integrated LED DRLs, a sculpted bonnet, and a split air intake. The exterior boasts a striking design with a sloping nose, sleek LED headlights with DRLs, functional air intakes, a split front bumper, 20-inch dual-tone alloy wheels, connected taillights, scissor doors, and a retractable roof. Cybermaster measures 4,533 mm in length, 1,912 mm in width, 1,328 mm in height and has a wheelbase of 2,689mm.
MG Cyberster expected powertrain
The UK-spec MG Cyberster comes with two variants: Trophy and GT, the former offers single-motor rear-wheel drive (RWD) configuration whereas the latter gets dual-motor, all-wheel drive (AWD) setup. The entry-level RWD variant utilizes a 64kWh lithium-ion battery to power a rear-mounted electric motor, generating 310 bhp and 475 Nm of torque. This setup enables the Cyberster to sprint from 0-100 kmph in just 4.9 seconds, with a top speed of 193 kmph. We expect the same configuration to be offered in the India-spec Cyberster as well.
