Mercedes-Benz launched the Maybach GLS 600 in India, with a price tag of Rs 3.35 crore, ex-showroom. Like how the regular GLS is the SUV version of the S-Class, the Maybach GLS is the uber-luxury version of the Maybach S-Class sedan. The SUV features a host of luxury features such as rear seat infotainment, seats with a massage function, and much more.

However, if one is ready to spend that amount of money on a vehicle, there are alternatives in India, and here are other SUVs that one can buy instead of the Mercedes-Maybach GLS 600.

Mercedes-Maybach GLS 600 — What else can you buy?

Volvo XC90

One cannot go wrong with the Maybach GLS, however, one cannot be wrong with a Volvo XC90 as well. The Swedish flagship SUV costs Rs 1 crore ex-showroom, a fraction of what the GLS costs. For the price, the XC90 gets a hybrid engine that makes 300 bhp and 420 Nm of torque, mated to an automatic gearbox that drives all four wheels.

The interior gets a 19-speaker audio system, seats with a massage function, ventilated seats, Google services, wireless smartphone connectivity, ADAS, and more.

Toyota Land Cruiser

There is no alternative to a Land Cruiser. The SUV has proven itself over the years in various terrains, from the dunes of Africa to everyday city streets. The Land Cruiser is capable on-road and off it, while it carries a price tag of Rs 2.10 crore, ex-showroom.

The Land Cruiser also gets a host of comfort features, but cannot match the Maybach GLS 600, but that is a small trade-off for its capability. The Toyota Land Cruiser is powered by a 3.3-litre V6 (yes, the V8 is no more) that makes 304bhp and 700Nm of torque.

Lexus LX

If one is okay to compromise capability for luxury and still wants a Toyota, the Lexus LX might be a good option. The Lexus LX is a more luxury-oriented version of the Land Cruiser and features a fingerprint-enabled start function, a 25-speaker audio system, rear seat infotainment, and much more.

Powering the Lexus LX is a 3.3-litre Vg engine that makes 304bhp and 700Nm of torque, mated to a 10-speed automatic gearbox. The Lexus LX is available with a 4X4 function and carries a price tag of Rs 2.82 crore, ex-showroom.

Land Rover Range Rover

If none of the Japanese or German SUVs fancy you, there is always the British option, the Range Rover. The Range Rover offers all the bells and whistles with a long list of luxury features, while the performance it offers is an added advantage.

The Range Rover starts at Rs 2.38 crore, ex-showroom, while it is available in petrol and diesel trims, along with the range-topping 4.4-litre V8 that makes 523bhp.

Mercedes-Benz G-Wagon

If you still want a Mercedes, but with off-road credentials, the G-Wagon is the choice. Available in diesel and petrol versions, the G-Wagon may not offer the amount of luxury the Maybach GLS offers, but it is still a Mercedes-Benz.

The G-Class is priced at Rs 2.55 crore onwards, ex-showroom, and the range-topping G 63 AMG costs Rs 4 crore, which is more than the Maybach GLS.
