Mercedes-Benz retains number one position in Indian luxury car space; Sales up by 15.9% in 2017

The SUV segment also grew by double digit in 2017. The performance and sports-car brand, Mercedes-AMG achieved double-digit growth in 2017, reiterating Mercedes-Benz’s strong dominance in the performance car segment.

Mercedes-Benz retains number one position in Indian luxury car space; Sales up by 15.9% in 2017

Indian arm of German luxury car manufacturer Mercedes-Benz India confirms that the company created a new sales record by selling 15,330 units in 2017. Mercedes-Benz India sales volume registered a 15.9 percent growth and continues to enjoy the number one position behind BMW India and Audi India.

Roland Folger, Managing Director & CEO, Mercedes-Benz India commented, “Mercedes-Benz today remains the most preferred luxury car brand in India and our increasing sales volumes, firmly underlines the customer’s trust on a winning brand. Our market strategy is well-founded and highly customer centric, enabling us to contribute to the economy by doubling our volumes in the span of few years. 2017 was a successful year for us and the decision to introduce the Long Wheelbase E-Class was strategic and highly successful. We are in particular very satisfied with the strong growth in volumes in the C-Class, E-Class and the SUV segment which remains the mainstay of our portfolio.”

The introduction of Mercedes-Benz E-Class Long Wheelbase helped the company’s sedan space to post a double digit growth. SUVs including  The GLC, GLE andGLS continue to retain the tag of the highest selling SUV in their respective categories, and contributed strongly to the SUV segment. The SUV segment from Mercedes-Benz also grew by double digit in 2017. The performance and sports-car brand, Mercedes-AMG achieved double-digit growth in 2017, reiterating Mercedes-Benz’s strong dominance in the performance car segment.

Folger further elaborated, “Our sales success in 2017 makes us confident of our sustained leadership  in the Indian luxury car market. Our 2018 strategy, ‘The Best Keeps Leading’ is based on this market success and confidence and aims to further deepen our commitment for our patrons. With the customers at the focal point.”

In 2018, Mercedes-Benz will introduce many new cars and SUV in India and also confirms to launch vehicles which have never been in India before. There will be a range of exciting AMG products that will make their India debut in 2018.
