Maruti Suzuki has firmly kept its foot on the accelerator to launch its first-ever all-electric vehicle, the eVX, which was showcased last year at the Auto Expo in Noida. At the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit 2024, the President of Suzuki Motor Corporation (SMC), Toshihiro Suzuki confirmed that the eVX will roll out of the Suzuki Gujarat plant by the end of the year. He further explained as India has become the third largest automobile market in the world, Suzuki has also scaled up production capacity to meet the demand. Suzuki expects an increase of 1.7 times in vehicle production and 2.6 times in export sales in the current fiscal year.
Addressing the summit, the Suzuki Motor president announced, “The first Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) from Suzuki Group will be rolled out from Suzuki Motor Gujarat by the end of this year.” He added, “We plan to sell this model not only in India but also export to Japan and European countries.” Being a true Made-in-India product, the battery, powertrain and other crucial components will all be indigenous. Hence, expect the eVX to disrupt the Indian market with its aggressive pricing.

Last December, Maruti Suzuki confirmed that the eVX’s India launch will take in 2025. According to a media report, Maruti Suzuki Executive Director (Corporate Affairs) Rahul Bharti said, “Our first EV, an SUV, will be launched in the next financial year of 2024-25. It will come out from SMG’s Gujarat plant. At present, the entire SMG facility at Hansalpur has three plants – plants A, B and C. Now, to manufacture the EV, a new plant, also called a production line, will be added there.”
