Maruti Suzuki is gearing up to launch the e Vitara which is likely to be its most significant product till now in this decade. The first electric vehicle (EV) from the Indo-Japanese carmaker, the e Vitara started creating ripples ever since it made its global debut at EICMA in November last year followed up by its India debut at Auto Expo 2025.
The company recently shared a block your date invite with the media for 3 September 2025 which was presumed to be the eVitara. However, there could be a major change ahead of the launch. Maruti could launch the e Escudo on this date instead. Confused? Well, it seems Maruti has renamed the eVitara as eEscudo ahead of its launch.
Originally displayed as the eVX concept a few years ago, the e Vitara has been renamed as e Escudo. The latest spy images suggest the same. A test mule of the electric SUV was spotted outside Maruti’s facility in Gurgaon which carried the new “eEscudo” nameplate at the rear with the ‘e’ painted in blue. The prototype looks production-ready.
