Maruti Suzuki e Vitara launched in UK: Will it be cheaper in India?

Maruti Suzuki’s first electric vehicle, the e Vitara, comes with two battery pack options, including an all-wheel-drive (AWD) model, and features advanced Level 2 ADAS for enhanced safety and driver assistance.

Made-in-India Suzuki e Vitara made its official debut in the UK and is priced £29,999, that’s around Rs 35 lakh, ex-showroom, to £37,799, which is around Rs 44 lakh. The price for Suzuki’s first all-electric vehicle may sound on the expensive side, but as it is manufactured at the Suzuki Motor Gujarat facility in Hansalpur, the EV is expected to be priced more aggressively in India. The e Vitara in the UK is available in two main variants like Motion and Ultra, with various trims. Let’s take a closer look at the Maruti Suzuki e Vitara.

Maruti Suzuki e Vitara: Specifications, Driving Range

The e Vitara is available in two battery options, the entry-level is powered by a 49 kWh and, while the top variant comes with a 61 kWh battery. According to Suzuki, the 49 kWh version churns out 142 bhp and 192.5 Nm of torque with a front-wheel-drive set-up and has a single motor. According to the company, the 49 kWh model offers a range of 346 km on the WLTP cycle.

The bigger 61 kWh battery is available in both single and dual motor trims. The single motor model has an output of 172 bhp and 192.5 Nm and has a drive range of up to 428 km. The twin motor version makes 175 bhp and a peak torque output of 300 Nm. Its claimed range is 412 km (WLTP).

The e Vitara is packed with features like Y-shaped LED headlights with a brawny front bumper. The front fascia remains pretty much like a Suzuki with clean lines and predictable design. It comes with 18-inch alloy wheels and continues with its styling DNA and retains Y-shaped LED tail lamps. The cabin sports 10.25-inch infotainment and a 10.1-inch all-digital instrument cluster. Apart from this, the Suzuki EV offers front ventilated seats, a 10-way electrically adjustable driver’s seat, etc.

The e Vitara is going to be the first Maruti Suzuki vehicle in India to be equipped with Level 2 ADAS. Apart from that, it is equipped with more safety features like up to seven airbags, a tyre pressure monitoring system, front and rear parking sensors, a 360-degree and more.

The e Vitara is available in two variants, which are further divided into five models. The smaller 49 kWh battery is only available in Motion variants, while the all-wheel-drive version is offered in both Motion and Ultra versions. The e Vitara will compete against the Hyundai Creta Electric, Mahindra BE 6, Tata Curvv EV and MG ZS EV.
