Maruti Suzuki India has commenced export of its SUV Fronx, to Japan as part of the ‘Make in India’ initiative. Manufactured at Maruti Suzuki’s Gujarat plant, the first consignment of over 1,600 vehicles has left for Japan from Gujarat’s Pipavav port. This is the second model from Maruti Suzuki to be exported to Japan, after Baleno in 2016.

The Fronx has seen good traction in the domestic market with sales surpassing the 1.5 lakh mark in just 14 months after being launched. It is one of the best selling models from Maruti and propelled Nexa sales significantly. A back of the hand calculation indicates that on a daily basis, more than 470 units of the Fronx are sold on an average. The monthly sales of Fronx is upwards of 10,000 units. In July it clocked sales of 10,925 units and in the first quarter of FY25 between April- June, its sales came in at 36,655 units.

What makes the Fronx a buyer’s favourite?
The Fronx by Maruti Suzuki India is a crossover based on Baleno. The prices of the base model starts from Rs 7.50 lakh and is available in 16 variants. It gives the users the option of choosing between petrol as well as CNG variants and Maruti claims a fuel efficiency upwards of 21 km/litre. The 1197 cc engine offers a powerful and efficient drive quality, and it is available with both AMT and torque converter options.
