We already know that Maruti Suzuki is gearing up to launch a new SUV on September 3, 2025. This new SUV will most likely sit on top of the Arena lineup. Test mules of this SUV have been spotted on numerous occasions in recent months. Now, the SUV has been teased by the company ahead of its market launch later this week.
In the latest teaser, Maruti shares a sneak peek of the upcoming vehicle’s connected LED taillamp setup. Internally codenamed Y17, this mid-size SUV will be based on the same Suzuki Global C platform underpinning Grand Vitara.
Upcoming Maruti Arena SUV: Escudo or Victoris?
Until now, it was believed that this SUV is likely to be named Escudo but there’s a new name in the mix. Apparently, certain reports suggest that the upcoming C-segment SUV could be called Victoris. Maruti Suzuki has filed trademark applications for both names and one of the two names are likely to be utilised for the upcoming SUV.

Upcoming Maruti Arena SUV: Exteriors & Interiors
Recent spy images have suggested a similar silhouette, profile, and size as the Grand Vitara. The front and rear sections seem to have been redesigned, showcasing fresh headlamp and taillamp designs that appear to draw inspiration from the Maruti Suzuki e Vitara. A new alloy wheel design also seems likely.
Leaked spy shots suggest a fully redesigned dashboard, highlighted by a larger flat touchscreen infotainment system and a fully digital instrument cluster. Chrome accents around the AC vents add a premium touch, reinforcing its flagship positioning. Notably, the model will be offered as a 5-seater SUV, putting to rest earlier speculation about a 7-seat layout.

Upcoming Maruti Arena SUV: Powertrain
We expect the upcoming Maruti Arena C-segment SUV to carry the same 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine as its Nexa sibling that produces 103 bhp and 137 Nm of peak torque. The engine is offered with a choice of a 5-speed manual transmission or a 6-speed torque converter automatic. The SUV is also likely to come in a CNG guise with a detuned power output of 87 bhp. We also expect this SUV to carry over the strong hybrid powertrain mated to an e-CVT gearbox.
