Maruti Baleno RS will make its debut at the Auto Expo 2016 on February 4
With over 70,000 bookings within 6 months of its launch, the Maruti Suzuki Baleno has gone off to a great start. In the first full month of its launch, the Baleno overtook the Hyundai i20 which was the segment leader earlier. Now to further increase its sales in the Indian market, the Indo-Japanese carmaker is planning to bring in a performance-oriented version of the premium hatchback – the Maruti Baleno RS – which will make its debut at the Auto Expo 2016 on February 4.
The Maruti Baleno RS will be powered by a new 1.0-litre Boosterjet turbocharged petrol engine, which is capable of churning out 112bhp and 175Nm. With such power figures, the Baleno RS will become one of the most powerful premium hatchbacks in the country. The performance-oriented Baleno RS will rival the Polo GTI, Abarth Punto and the upcoming i20 N Sport. The Hyundai i20 N Sport is the more powerful version of the i20 hatchback which too will make its India debut at the Motor Show.
Besides the Baleno RS, Maruti Suzuki India will bring the Maruti Vitara Brezza sub-compact SUV, Ignis concept and the special edition S-Cross. The company will also showcase the 1.0-litre EcoBoost engine and the new-generation platform that powers the Baleno RS.
