Mahindra Thar 5-door is one of the most anticipated SUVs. We had recently reported about the new dashboard including the bigger touchscreen and new instrument cluster. Today we will share new details of the Thar 5-door in terms of design and the interiors.
Here’s what we know so far about the Mahindra Thar 5-door.
Mahindra Thar 5-door: Design
Apart from stating that the Thar 5-door is longer than the current one and has two additional doors, the front grille and the bumpers have received tweaks. The top-of-the-line variant gets all LED lights including headlamps, indicators and foglamps merged into the front fender.

What’s new is that the Thar 5-door gets front parking sensors placed above the fog lights. There is no confirmation on a 360-degree camera but it could be an option. Apart from the extended side profile with a quarter glass, the Thar top trim will sport 19-inch dual-tone alloy wheels.
Mahindra Thar 5-door: Cabin and Features
The spied Thar has an all-black cabin but based on the trim, Mahindra will also offer dual-tone interiors to give it a more premium look and feel. The dashboard houses a bigger floating 10.25-inch infotainment system and a 10.25-inch instrument cluster. One also expects wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The centre console is expected to have a dual-zone climate control and a wireless phone charger.

The Thar 5-door also gets a new steering wheel with control buttons including cruise control like the Scorpio N and the XUV700. Other comfort features revealed are front and rear armrests, rear air condition vents, a sunroof, Type-C charging ports, keyless entry with a start-stop ignition button, a remote-operated fuel lid and auto-dimming inside rearview mirror.
Mahindra Thar 5-door: Safety
The current Thar has been rated 4 stars by Global NCAP for adult and child safety and the new one will be no different. The new Thar is expected to come equipped with six airbags, all four disc brakes, front parking sensors and maybe a 360-degree camera. At the moment, Mahindra has not mentioned anything about the Thar getting ADAS. It will continue to offer ESP, hill descent control, ISOFIX child seat mounts and ABS with EBD.
Mahindra Thar 5-door: Powertrains
The Thar 5-door will retain the current two engines in the compact version, the 2-litre mStallion petrol and the 2.2-litre mHawk diesel. The petrol engine has a total output of 150bhp and 300Nm and the diesel with 130bhp and 300Nm of torque. It will be available in both manual and automatic transmissions and rear-wheel-drive and four-wheel-drive trims.

The Thar 5-door could make its debut sometime in mid-2024 and will take on the Force Gurkha and the more compact Maruti Suzuki Jimny.
