The 5-door Mahindra Thar is a highly anticipated vehicle in India. Testing for the SUV has been in full flow as test mules of the larger Thar are spotted quite often in various parts of the country. Expected to hit markets the first half of 2024, over the past few months several details of the upcoming off-roading SUV have surfaced on the internet.
Mahindra Thar 5-door dashboard spied
Another new leak shares some crucial details about the 5-door Thar. The interior cockpit of the 5-door Thar has supposedly been spied undergoing a variety of tests at the Mahindra Research Valley in Chennai. The dashboard layout is similar to the current 3-door but receives subtle visual changes.

For starters, instead of the all-black dashboard, this unit gets a dual-tone theme with black and tan shades. Further, the cutout for the touchscreen appears to be larger which indicates that a larger infotainment unit could be added. We also expect the user interface on this screen to be different from the present Thar.
The instrument cluster housing also looks a bit different which suggests a different layout for the same. Rest of the details remain the same as the 3-door Thar. Earlier spy shots revealed new front arm rest, sunroof and grab handles on the A and B-pillar. We also expect the feature list to remain largely unchanged.
Previous spy shots have indicated subtle visual changes like a redesigned front grille, new front and rear bumpers, new alloy wheel design, and revised LED taillights. The biggest change will be its increased length and wheelbase to accommodate the rear doors.
Mahindra Thar 5-door expected specs
Mahindra is expected to offer the same engine options as the 3-door 4WD Thar— a 2.0-litre mStallion turbo petrol unit and a 2.2-litre mHawk diesel unit. However, in the 5-door version, these units might be offered in a different state of tune with higher outputs. A part-time 4×4 drivetrain with a low-range transfer case will be a standard offering.
