Mahindra will carry on with its tradition of its annual bonhomie on August 15 where the homegrown carmaker showcases a range of its upcoming products either in concept or production forms. The upcoming edition this year, named Freedom NU, is also expected to be as grand, if not more, as the previous editions with many interesting projects to be displayed at the event.
One of the products to be showcased by Mahindra is the Vision T Concept which the company has teased on its social media handles. The teaser doesn’t reveal any significant details including which model it will be based on, but our guess is it could possibly preview the future all-electric Thar.
Mahindra Vision T: Is it a more evolved Thar.e?
The ‘T’ in Vision T is most likely to stand for Thar. In 2023, Mahindra showcased the first concept prototype of the battery-powered Thar which at that time was named “Thar.e”. From the looks of it, the upcoming Vision T concept seems to be an extension of the Thar.e. It’ll be interesting to see how much the Thar.e has evolved into the Vision T.

From the faint glimpses seen in the video released by Mahindra, the styling of the Vision T looks very familiar to the Thar.e with highlights like clamshell bonnet, cladded fenders, knobby all-terrain tyres, and a chunky front bumper, all likely to be carried from the Thar.e concept. The clip offers a top-down view of the concept vehicle’s front end.
That said, we do expect some changes in the Vision T as compared to the Thar.e which would take the project closer to production. The original Thar.e featured square-shaped headlamps integrated into the faux grille, matching taillamps at the rear, and a wheelbase ranging from 2,775 mm to 2,975 mm. Moreover, the Thar.e comes with a five-door configuration similar to the Thar Roxx.
The original Thar.e was based on the INGLO platform, which also underpins the Mahindra BE 6 and XUV.e9 electric SUVs. In contrast, the Vision.T is expected to use a modified version of the INGLO architecture. At the upcoming Freedom NU event, Mahindra is set to introduce multiple concept vehicles and a new vehicle platform on August 15. More details on the Vision T are expected to come out in the coming weeks.
