Mahindra & Mahindra has introduced new mild-hybrid technology – Intelli-Hybrid on its Scorpio SUV with a 1.99 L, mHAWK engine. The Scorpio with new hybrid technology will be sold in Delhi-NCR. Prices of the Mahindra Scorpio with Intelli-Hybrid starts at Rs 9.35 lakh. The company had introduced the Intelli-Hybrid Scorpio with a 2.2 L diesel engine, however pertaining to the ban on diesel cars with capacity above or of 2,000cc not being sold in select parts of the country (which has currently been lifted from select locations), Mahindra has introduced the same mild hybrid technology with the existing 1.99 L engine.
With the help of the new Intelli-Hybrid, the SUV consumes lesser fuel, by up to 7%. This has been achieved by assisting the 1.99 L engine with electric power during acceleration and the engine automatically switches off within 3 seconds as soon as the vehicle is stationary. The braking energy is reused, which helps in charging the battery.
Mahindra has offered the Scorpio with Intelli-Hybrid technology in S4, S4+, S4+ 4WD, S6+, S8, S10 2WD (Manual Transmission) and S10-4WD (Manual Transmission) variants. The company will sell the Scorpio with a concessional Value Added Tax (VAT) of 5% in Delhi which will benefit the customers by up to Rs 60,000 to Rs 90,000 depending on the variant.

The Mahindra Scorpio with Intelli-Hybrid is powered by a 1.99 L, mHAWK engine that generates 120 hp of maximum power. The SUV is also equipped with a host of features like cushion suspension with anti-roll bars, projector headlamps, LED parking lights, 6-inch touchscreen infotainment system with GPS navigation, automatic temperature control and 17-inch alloy wheels.
