Suzuki will launch the fourth-gen Swift in South Africa soon and it will largely be similar to the Swift sold in India. However, there will be one major change in the South Africa-spec Swift from its Indian counterpart. Instead of an AMT gearbox, the Swift sold in the rainbow nation will get the option of a CVT gearbox.
The South African Swift will be available in three trim levels, namely GL, GL+, and GLX. Prices for the sporty hatch will be announced at time of its launch which is slated to take place in the coming South African spring. More importantly, the version of Swift has been manufactured in India.
South Africa-spec Suzuki Swift: Powertrain
Like the India-spec Swift, the model to be launched in South Africa will be powered by a 1.2-litre 3-cylinder, Z-series naturally aspirated petrol engine. This motor kicks out 81 bhp and 112 Nm of peak torque. Besides the CVT, Suzuki is offering a 5-speed gearbox as standard. The CVT is only available in the top-spec GLX trim.

South Africa-spec Suzuki Swift: Features
Equipment on offer in the South Africa-spec Swift is similar to its Indian counterpart which includes features such as a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support,automatic headlights, electrically adjustable and folding side mirrors, cruise control, keyless entry, automatic climate control, and push-button start/stop.
The lower variants of the Swift in South African will have to make do with a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment display, and manual air conditioning. In terms of safety, Suzuki will offer the Swift in South Africa with features like six airbags, hill hold control, ABS with emergency brake support, and electronic stability control, three-point seatbelts on all five seats, and child seat anchorages as standard across all variants.
