McLaren appears to be gradually reclaiming its glory days, with its F1 team securing two race victories this season. In a nod to the brand’s achievements, Lego Technic has honoured the P1, the pioneering high-performance hybrid vehicle, with a 1:8 scale model.
Lego McLaren P1: What to expect?
When it comes to attention to detail, Lego continues to craft realistic parts. The McLaren P1 model is made up of 3,983 pieces, which will be no small feat to build it. To give you an idea of how big the McLaren P1 is, the model is over 5.5 inches in height, 23 inches in length and 9.5 inches in width.
Lego’s version of McLaren’s ‘the best driver’s car in the world on both road and track’, has a 7-speed gearbox with 2 shifter drums, suspension, V8 piston engine, adjustable rear wing, and opening dihedral doors with advanced mechanism.

Lego McLaren P1: How much does it cost?
The fully assembled McLaren P1 from Lego will be available at Lego stores and online in the global market from August 1 onwards. Lego has revealed the price of the hybrid hypercar at $449 around (Rs 37,500).
Kasper Rene Hansen, Designer, LEGO Group, said, “From the exterior with aerodynamic shapes to the interior and V8 piston engine – the real McLaren P1 is an incredible car. We wanted to capture these details in the best way possible with our LEGO Technic model and we did not want to compromise in any way
He further added, “Therefore, we worked on multiple variations of the car to test different designs. We also faced a huge challenge with the iconic butterfly doors because they needed a new mechanism to stay open. It was a great experience to recreate the McLaren P1™ and I’m hoping all supercar enthusiasts out there are ready to explore the details and intricacies of the real McLaren P1 in LEGO Technic form.”
