It’s Christmas comes early when performance car makers reveal new engines, and that’s exactly what Lamborghini has done. The Italian carmaker has revealed a new V8 hybrid engine, code named ‘Lamborghini 634’, which will power the Huracan’s successor.
Replacing the naturally aspirated 5.2-litre V10 is a new twin-turbocharged 4.0-litre V8 paired with three electric motors, which makes 739 horsepower. The company also says that the engine will redline at 10,000 rpm, while the older V10 maxes out at 8,500 rpm.Â
No other technical details were revealed about the new engine, however, as per reports, the electric motors could be placed at the front axle to aid torque vectoring, while the third electric motor will sit between the engine and the gearbox.
As for the Huracan’s replacement itself, Lamborghini has not revealed the details of the name yet, but Stephan Winkelmann, the CEO of Lamborghini had told Road and Track that the company has shortlisted a name after a fighting bull.
