Kia launched the Syros last month, becoming the Korean’s second sub-4 metre SUV after Sonet. Priced between Rs 8.99 lakh and Rs 16.99 lakh (both ex-showroom), the Syros seems to have hit the right chords with consumers. As many as 20,163 bookings for the Syros have been made in a little over a month since it went live.

Kia Syros booking details
Pre-bookings for the Syros began on 3 January whereas prices for the subcompact SUV were officially announced on 1 February. Bookings are for higher-end trims, highlighting the strong demand for premium variants, with 46% of buyers inclined towards owning the top variants. Kia has also revealed the breakup of which variants of the Sonet buyers are preferring.

For instance, Kia claims that 67 percent of the total bookings have been made for the 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol variants. Further, 38 percent of the total bookings have been accounted for by the automatic variants. This includes petrol with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic and diesel with a 6-speed torque converter automatic variants.Glacier White Pearl has emerged as the most preferred colour with 32 percent bookings followed by Aurora Black Pearl and Frost Blue with 26 percent and 20 percent respectively.
Kia Syros: Features
Kia Syros is packed with all the bells and whistles. This includes a 30-inch Trinity panoramic display, a dual-pane panoramic sunroof, a 64-colour ambient lighting, 8-speaker Harmon Kardon audio system, and a first-in-segment rear seat recline, slide, and ventilation to name a few. It also boasts of Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) with 16 autonomous features.

That said, customers have to shell out an additional Rs 80,000 to avail the ADAS suite. Other notable safety features include six airbags, 360-degree parking camera, hill start assist, and tyre pressure monitoring system.
Kia Syros: Powertrain
Kia will offer the Syros with two engine options — a 1-litre turbo petrol and a 1.5-litre diesel. The 1-litre turbo petrol engine produces 118 bhp and 172 Nm of torque, paired with either a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. The 1.5-litre diesel engine generates 114 bhp and 250 Nm of torque. It comes with two gearbox options — a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic torque converter.
