With the launch of the much-awaited premium MPV, the Clavis, Kia has decided to discontinue nine variants of the Carens. Now, the Carens is only available in the Premium (O) trim, which is one above the previous base model. The good news is that the Carens will continue to be available in all three engine options. If you are interested in getting a good deal on the Carens, then it might be the best time to head to a Kia dealer and check if there are other variants still available in the stock yard.
Kia Carens Premium (O): Engine Specifications and Price
The Carens Premium (O) continues to be available in three engine options, including a diesel and a turbo petrol, and they all come standard with an idle start/stop function. The most affordable model is powered by a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol with an output of 113 bhp at 6300 rpm and 145 Nm at 4500 rpm. It now only comes with a 6-speed manual transmission.

The 1.5-litre turbo petrol version, on the other hand, makes 158 bhp at 5500 rpm and has a torque of 253 Nm at 1500-3500 rpm and is mated to the 6-speed clutchless manual iMT. Bad news for all enthusiasts who are looking for a practical MPV, as the Carens no longer gets a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
There’s still some respite for diesel buyers as the Premium (O) is available with the 114 bhp 1.5-litre diesel with a torque of 250 Nm at 1500 – 2750 rpm. It is mated to a 6-speed manual. For automatic versions, one has to opt for the new Clavis.
