Kia unveiled a more advanced version of the Carens MPV recently named Carens Clavis. While the Korean carmaker has revealed the vehicle in its entirety, prices of the Carens Clavis are yet to be revealed. Official announcement regarding its prices will happen on May 23. 

Pre-bookings for the Carens are currently underway at all Kia dealerships and through the company’s website. Interested buyers can pre-book the Clavis at a token amount of Rs 25,000. The Clavis will be available in seven trims namely HTE, HTE(O), HTK, HTK+, HTK+(O), HTX & HTX+. To be available in both seven- and six-seat layouts, the latter will only be available with the Carens Clavis’ top-spec HTX+ trim.

Kia Carens Clavis Fuel Efficiency

Ahead of its market launch, Kia has revealed the claimed fuel efficiency figures for the Carens Clavis. Given the engine and transmission options are more or less similar to the pre-existing Carens, the mileage figures are in a similar ballpark, ranging between 15.34 kmpl and 17.50 kmpl.

As expected, the Carens Clavis diesel manual turns out to be the most fuel-efficient, followed by the diesel automatic. Petrol and turbo-petrol manual variants offer similar mileage, while the turbo-petrol with a dual-clutch automatic is the third most efficient, claiming 16.66 kmpl. The naturally aspirated petrol engine variant has the lowest claimed fuel efficiency among all options.

The new Kia Carens Clavis retains the same powertrain setup as the regular Carens including a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine, a 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine, and a 1.5-litre diesel engine. Transmission options include 6-speed manual, 6-speed clutchless manual (iMT), 6-speed torque converter automatic, and 7-speed dual-clutch automatic.
