It’s been a mix bag April for Hyundai Motor India as the company was overtaken my Mahindra and Tata Motors and was forced to fourth place. Even though the biggest gainer last month was Mahindra, who took the runner-up position after Maruti Suzuki, the Creta continued to be the country’s favourite SUV. Here are the five SUVs that topped the sales charts in April.
Hyundai Creta — 17,016 units
Hyundai Creta continues to rule the roost as it retained its title as the best-selling vehicle and SUV in April 2025. The South Korean automobile manufacturer rolled out 17,016 units, which is a 10% increase year-on-year, as it registered 15,447 units in 2024. Even though the SUV saw a substantial growth, there was a minor dip in numbers from March 2025, where it sold 18,059 Creta vehicles, including the Electric version. Interestingly enough, the Creta saw a 10% growth in March year-on-year.
Maruti Suzuki Brezza — 16,971 units
The Brezza made a strong comeback in April as it galvanised its way to second place, selling 16,971 units. In March, the subcompact SUV was pushed down to third best-selling SUV and sixth overall. In April, the Brezza saw a minor 1% drop year-on-year and is the leading SUV in the sub-4-metre segment. The Brezza registered a meteoric rise of 13% in March year-on-year.
Mahindra Scorpio — 15,534 units
The Scorpio is the only SUV from Mahindra to enter the overall top ten best-selling vehicles in April. It sold 15,534 units in April with a healthy 5% growth year-on-year, as it sold 14,807 units last year. Last month, the Scorpio also saw month-on-month growth with 13,913 units registered in March.
Tata Nexon — 15,457 units
The Nexon continues to be one of the most sought-after compact SUVs in the market, with 15,457 units in April. It registered a massive 38% growth year-on-year when it sold 11,168 units. These numbers include both Nexon ICE SUVs and EVs. In March, Nexon dispatched 16,336 units, which was a 16% growth year-on-year.
Maruti Suzuki Fronx — 14,345 units
Fronx has been steadily churning out decent sales numbers for Maruti Suzuki as it is registered 14,345 units and retained the numbers from last year. The Fronx has been in the overall top 10 vehicle sales, and from 10th place in March, it managed to snatch eighth in April and fifth in the SUV list.
