Toyota showcased the much-awaited EV SUV, the Urban Cruiser, at the 2025 Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS). This new all-electric vehicle is made at Maruti Suzuki’s Gujarat facility and will be the e Vitara’s doppelganger. The Japanese manufacturer had earlier confirmed that the new EV will make its way to India. Toyota India’s first EV will compete against the e Vitara, Hyundai Creta Electric, Mahindra BE 6 and Tata Curvv EV.

Toyota Urban Cruiser EV: Specifications

The Urban Cruiser EV is based on the Maruti Suzuki e Vitara. It is 4,285 mm long, 1,800 mm wide and 1,640 mm tall with a wheelbase of 2,700 mm. With a battery tucked in underneath the floor, the Toyota EV SUV has a ground clearance of 180 mm. We take a quick look at how the EV’s measurements compare to its petrol and hybrid version, the Urban Cruiser Hyryder. It is 4,365 mm in length, 1,795 mm in width, 1,645 mm in height and has a wheelbase of 2,600 mm.

Like the e Vitara, the Urban Cruiser EV will offer two battery options — the 49 kWh and 61 kWh. The entry-level EV gets a single motor mounted on the front axle with an output of 142 bhp and 189 Nm. The bigger 61 kWh battery comes in two versions — a single-motor front-wheel drive and a dual-motor AWD. The former makes 172 bhp and 189 Nm while the top-of-the-line model produces 181 bhp and 300 Nm of torque.

Detik Oto, an Indonesian website, has reported that the Urban Cruiser EV is expected to offer a driving range of around 400 km from the 61 kWh battery front-wheel drive, while the dual-motor version returns 350 km of range.

Toyota Urban Cruiser EV: Features

The Urban Cruiser EV is packed with the usual suspect features. It is equipped with a 10.1-inch infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay and a 10.25-inch all-digital instrument cluster. Toyota has given the Urban Cruiser EV an interesting colour combination of black, grey and brown touches on the upholstery. In terms of safety, the EV will come with Level 2 ADAS.
